John Doane and Norman Bruce Ream paid .05 cents a day or 10 cents a month to stone masons from Italy to build the beautiful stone walls around my house and in the area.

Quinnatisset means little long river.

The Nipmuck indians inhabited the land here before groups of white man ran them off and killed them all in the mid 1600's. Eventually part of my land was given as an Indian reservation.

Bears overtook the land in these parts at one time - bear, wolves and deer.

Small pox came through and wiped many out in 1722.

By the time of the French/American war, almost every family was affected by loss of family members.

Townships were made around meeting houses/churches and roads were built so that people could come to church.

Taxes were revenues paid to the church.

Pastors were well taken care of with untaxed income and firewood. They were also well respected for the most part.

One poor pastor was released from his position for having a "liberal" view of worship - he encouraged singing in church!

County Home Road got it's name because there was an old orphanage down the street, called County Home.
