The First Month

When I moved into this house I was quite overwhelmed. We closed on January 6, the same day I moved into Boston for ten days of Expressive Therapies class. Needless to say it took me months to get settled - in fact - I still haven't been able to find some of my belongings. Has anyone seen the base to my patio umbrella?

All I could do for the first few months was throw my furniture in rooms and see what happened. Moving into an almost 250 year old home from a more contemporary, clean style was going to be a change. And here was the amazing thing - every time I turned around, I found furniture that completely matched this house!

Thanks to a thrifty and resourceful cousin who has a gift for finding antiques for a song, my home was fully furnished within a few weeks. Here are some of the pictures of the first phase of our move. I enjoy looking at these pictures because they are full of cozy antique charm.

Opposite view of the living room. Sofa on left from my cousin, sofa on right
purchased used. The colors coordinated with the mural and the green and coffee color
of the walls. Wide plank floors add texture and interest.
